What accessibility features does UpScrolled have?

Written by Sam

We're designing UpScrolled to be accessible and inclusive for all users. As new features are added, this resource will be updated to list the ways users can adjust settings or take advantage of accessibility-focused tools on the UpScrolled platform.

Current accessibility features include:

  • Speech to text: by selecting the microphone icon on the keyboard while drafting text in UpScrolled, users can dictate directly into the phone.

  • Text to speech: by highlighting text on the platform and scrolling through the options that appear, users can select “Speak” to have the app dictate to them. Currently, this excludes posts written originally in Arabic, but our team is working on this for a future update. For devices set to Arabic, however, posts written in other languages can be converted into speech.

  • ALT text: users can provide ALT text for images to describe what is displayed for blind users.

For feedback and suggestions on how our team can improve the platform with more accessibility features, please contact us at [email protected].
