How to manage message requests on UpScrolled

Written by Ryan Quinn

Message requests let you control who can send you private messages. People you follow can always message you directly — no request needed.

Change your message request settings

1. Open the UpScrolled app.

2. Go to your Profile.

3. Tap Settings ⚙️ → Messages → Message Requests.

4. Choose an option:

- Everyone – Anyone can send you a message request. It stays in your requests until you reply.

- Off – Only people you follow can message you.

You can update this setting at any time.

How message requests work

Requests from people you don't follow appear in a Requests tab in your Messenger. There's no decline button — replying accepts the request, and ignoring leaves it unanswered.

Stay safe with message requests

Be cautious when replying to people you don't know. Some requests may be spam or scams. If something feels off, ignore the request.

If you're unsure about a message or need help adjusting your settings, start a conversation with our team.
