How to Switch Between a Public and Private Profile

Written by Ryan Quinn

UpScrolled gives you full control over your account's visibility. You can choose whether your content is visible to everyone or only to approved followers by switching between a public and private profile.

Steps:

Go to your Profile page.

Tap Settings ⚙️ → Account privacy.

Toggle the Private account setting to choose between:

Public – anyone on or off the platform can view your posts and profile.

Private – only users you approve can follow you and see your content.

Good to know:

If you switch to private, all new follow requests must be manually approved. Existing followers will still see your content unless you remove them.

Content from private accounts will not appear in: public search results, trending sections, hashtag feeds (even if hashtags are added), or external shares.

Private accounts can only mention/tag users who are following them back.

If an account was public then switched to private, previously discoverable content may still remain discoverable.

If a private account switches to public, all current followers will be automatically approved.

You can change this setting at any time.
